Manchester United Look to Continue Hot Streak Against Liverpool - a Fan's Take

Of all the matches in a given season, few manage to bring as much emotion out of supporters as the trip to Anfield to play Liverpool. However, upon walking into the stadium, United supporters will begreeted with a letter from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as a gentle reminder that this is after all just a game, according to ManUtd.com. Of course, the game has a lot of meaning for both sides.
Liverpool will be trying to win its first match in the Premier League this season in order to climb from the bottom section of the table, but Manchester United needs a favorable result to keep pace with the other teams at the top of the table. I tend to think of this game as a test for both sides. Liverpool obviously needs to get over this slow start, but United is looking to stay on a hot streak.
The busy part of the season arrived last week, and the schedule does not get any easier for the Red Devils. After the league clash with Liverpool, the squad returns to the friendly confines of Old Trafford for a Capital One Cup match with New Castle on September 26 and a Premier League battle with Tottenham on September 29, according to ManUtd.com. I love this time of year, because player selection becomes even more important than normal.
The United attack has already seen a fair amount of injuries this early in the season. Ashley Young will be lost for two to three weeks with a knee problem, but Wayne Rooney could see some actionvery soon, according to the Daily Mail. I think Rooney's return comes a vital time for Manchester United, as Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck, and Chicarito will all need some time to rest. Rooney is probably itching to see some action since being sidelined a few weeks ago.
United will look to continue a run of good form with a victory against Liverpool at Anfield. The Liverpool squad has been playing okay, but just not getting the results. I still think the United squad needs to get back to scoring goals and not let teams hang around 1-0 or 2-0, because anything can happen. With so many matches coming so quickly, Sir Alex will be looking to use as many players as possible, which means that jobs can be gained or lost in the coming weeks. I just love this time of year.
