Hand High senior linebacker Matt Walsh was named the Register's State Football Most Valuable Player.
Walsh, a UConn commit, ended his career with the Tigers in style with 15 tackles and two forced fumbles to lead Hand to a second straight Class L title.
Walsh was also named to the Walter Camp team earlier today although he lost out on being the state player of the year to Ansonia running back Arkeel Newsome.
