There may not have been an offensive player who made as many strides during preseason camp as junior receiver Kamal Abrams.
However, any hopes Abrams had of making an impact in Thursday's season opener ended when he twisted his left knee and had to be helped off the field during pre-game warmups.
On Monday's American Athletic Conference coaches' call, Paul Pasqualoni said that Abrams needed to have a minor surgery on his knee and he is expected to miss between 2-4 weeks.
"We scoped it and he is probably (out) somewhere between 2-4 weeks depending on how it goes," Pasqualoni said.
Abrams was listed as a second-team WR on the depth chart so there will be an opportunity for other Huskies to move up.
"Brian Lemelle is one of the guys who can work in that spot, we’ve also got John Green," Pasqualoni said, "Noel Thomas, we are working this week. We will have one of the younger guys making reps in that spot."
