Soccer - More to come enthuses Hodgson
Manager Roy Hodgson is confident that there is more to come from his side, with England having booked their place in Brazil for the World Cup finals next summer. The Three Lions are 20/1 with bet365 to lift the trophy in South America and while Hodgson is not predicting ultimate glory, he is clearly upbeat about the future for his youthful side. Having seen England fall at the quarter-final stage at Euro 2012, Hodgson said: "I'd like to think we will do a lot better. "We have been working together for 18 months, the way we try and play has changed quite a lot and I would like to think in the months we have we might get better still." England safely negotiated Group H unbeaten, winning six and drawing four, scoring 31 goals and conceding just four - one more than Spain, who had the best defensive record in the European qualifiers.
4/6 Cole Still In Pole Position Despite Baines Showing Leighton Baines impressed many with his performances against Montenegro and Poland but bet365 are still siding with the experienced Ashley Cole to start the World Cup opener in Brazil. bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth “The gap between the two is seemingly getting smaller and smaller, though we still fancy Hodgson to play it safe next summer – but only just.” 2014 England World Cup Special – To Start First Game At Left Back Ashley Cole 4/6 Leighton Baines 11/10 (Stakes returned if neither start)
